On Thursday 11th August my EE Account was Hacked and someone bypassed EE security and Obtained a Pac code, They then used this to transfer my no to Lycamobile, EE sent me a Sorry your leaving Text which I new was wrong so I immediately contacted them but they said it was too late to stop it happening and I would need to wait until Monday. Over the weekend the hackers have accessed all my online banking app and credit card apps as they appear to have clones my phone. They have changed pass  codes to prevent my access and are trying to take money out of all my accounts---BEWARE

@Gymshoes , EE is a UK company, so why would the fraud department be based in the USA? It would be in the UK.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Ji Smcturk, you will probably get nowhere as I did, response from EE is terrible, the person who stole my PAC code said they had lost their phone so they couldn't access the passcode and needed to be given it verbally which EE DID !!!

This is the conversation that I feel I should have been entitled to.

Hi gym shoes,

I had a call from EE complaints yesterday. Unsurprisingly they say they haven’t don’t any checks and followed protocol. I’ve also been told the person on the call clearly wasn’t me, so won’t send me any transcripts or give me any information from the call.

It sounds like we have both been targeted by the same organisation. They called EE and requested to change my email address, and that they didn’t have there phone (my number) with them. So EE asked security questions, which they could answer. When they then called for the PAC code, EE sent a one time passcode to the newly registered email. I find it strange that never happened on the first occasion.

EE are taking no accountability. This will happen to more people until they admit they accept responsibility and put in stronger security measures.

Hi @Ghyaur

Welcome to the community.

If you speak with our Mobile Care team, they'll be able to check this and make sure you can get access to your account.

Chris

Strange how this keeps happening ...

Yep, same happened to me last October.  Am engaged with EE and the ICO, and considering my legal options.

EE - why won't you fix this problem that keeps on occurring ?  And do you have the correct **internal** checks in place ?

None of this makes any sense to me.

What happened prior to the 'hacking'?

Had you had your phone in for any physical or remote repair?

Had you sold your previous phone and not deleted any of the info prior to selling/giving away?

Did you back up/clone your phone to a 'service' or back up to Google/One Drive servers?

Are you an Android user?

Are you an iPhone User?

Had you upgraded your phone by cloning the information to your new phone, but forgot to reset/wipe the cloned phone?

Had you had your previous phone lost or stolen and not changed you bank account, EE, password details with anything connected to your phone?

Had you given anyone your phone for any period of time?

How had the Hackers got your bank account details, which are not part of EE?

Had you answered texts or emails (prior to the 'hacking') with your bank account details or pac codes or EE account details?

Do you get paper copies of bank account details or any other personal details, and just throw them in the bin without shredding?

Do you change your passwords frequently?

Do you never change your passwords?

You don't have to give details just a yes or no would suffice.

I've had 3 instances of attempted access to my account over the last 6-7 months.

The first one actually got through and ordered an iPhone 15 Pro with the most expensive tariff, with a change of delivery address.... Incredibly the security checks in EE didn't flag this up and the delivery was aborted after I called up when I received text advising me of my "order".

I have thought about getting the ICO involved as it happened again last weekend, requiring another 30 + mins of my time patiently explaining to the very helpful Service Agent that I've not been trying to make any changes.

What has been your experience with the ICO have they been any help?

They were no help at all. Had some pathetic excuses about why I could not hear the recorded conversation of someone impersonating me, as they had to protect their rights !Sent from my Galaxy
Ok thanks
I've had some hopeless response from EE and they've promised a call from
the executive office which hasnt arrive either.
Pretty hopeless all round
I'll not bother with the ICO as I expect it will be more of a waste of
time...
Cheers
For your response
