Bit strange, I'm also trying to activate this and the instructions above don't appear to be available in my community menus / profile.

The post you'd added to was over 3years old, so it's not surprising the advice may have been out-of-date.

Can you explain the problem you're having, and how you've tried to solve it?

Someone on another thread suggested I should activate the ability on these community pages to be privately messaged (eg by a EE staff member), but those options don’t appear in my settings / profile for this site

@charlienormand click the name of the person you want to send a PM to and you will see a tab saying send a message.
