Digital Voice Adaptors not working - again

5Pandas
Explorer

I have three Digital Voice adaptors using the previous copper-wire BT telphones. The adaptors have proved to be unrpredictable and unreliable. Initailly, before changing to three adaptors, I bought two new BT wireless telephones and one-adaptor. The wirelss telephones did not work, so I sent those back and bought two more adaptors. Actually the shop did not put the second unit in the parcel, so I had to order another one. At the  moment we are cut-off from the outside world, as repeated attempts , using various methods, has failed to find a solution. It appears that EE have walked away from this problem, not knowing waht to do about it.

@5Pandas Have you tried just plugging a phone into the back of the router to see if that is up DV wise, or if the service is completely down at present.? Attached what the DVA lights mean just in case you do not have that info below.

What your Digital Voice
Adapter light means
1 On initial plug in – flashes 0.5 seconds on,
2 seconds off
2 During registration – flashes quickly
0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off
3 Once registered – stays solid green
4 During a call – flashes slowly 1 second on,
1 second off
5 Once registered, if there’s a connection
problem with your broadband – flashes
0.5 seconds on and 2 seconds off.
Maximum Digital
Voice devices
You can register a maximum of 5 Digital Voice
devices (that includes Digital Voice Handsets
or Digital Voice Adapters) to your new Hub at
one time

To Jim M11,

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for the attached information regarding the DV Adaptor lights (which I have not had before)

I might have found a solution to the problem. However any form of formal contact with EE I do not think is possible, so I was left 'scratching my head'. Apart from the obvious problems and their solutions, there is little out there when life is a little bit more complicated. The telephone wiring in our house is pre-1970s, and therefore likely to be a three-wire system with a 'no-ring' wire. This can cause problems with these adaptors, which is no obvious, as sometimes they function satisfactorily. So now I have tried-out BT ASDL filters, so we will see how things go from here.

Thank you for your comments.
