Some EE salespeople came to my door and convinced me to switch from Virgin Media to EE.
Was first told nothing would change then need an engineer visit to install yet another wire.
Its already kind of strange that they placed the order then and there when reading the information later they're supposed to arrange a call but family was told we'd keep number.
Called to make sure the number would be transferred. Lady said that nothing could be dome til after it went live and then its a maybe. She said we could cancel and then replace the order.
Losing this number that we have had for over 20 years would be a disaster. Its originally a bt number. Then talk talk then bt then virgin then virgin digital.
Trying to understaned if the number can actually be ported or if its just going to be lost irrecoverably as soon as our service ends with virgin media.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @JanetGlenWalker,
I am sorry you have had an issue with your number transfer, the number should be available within 30 days of it being cancelled. Please give us a call on 150 from an EE mobile or 0330 123 1105 from any other phone. Our connections team may need to place a new request for the number transfer.

@JanetGlenWalker If it is not all done at the start, ie Broadband and Landline phone number transfer as part off the order then there is the potential for it to go missing and then you rely on EE getting it back from VM, if not VM will bin the number EE will give you a new one, personally i would just cancel the EE order and if you do wish start the whole process with an EE guide or online BUT be sure to addon the DV landline number either way.
VM if you can manage to get through to support will be able to tell you also what is going on, but that's another one, have a look on the VM Forum to see if any examples!

I went live with a new number who do I get in touch with to retrieve my number from Virgin Media?
According to OFCOM it looks like numbers have to be made available to port for 30 days after cancellation so it should be possible? It's originally a BT Number.

In general get PAC from current network provider and give it to new provider when new sim starts working or during placing the order

Sim? This is for a Landline.
