BT Decor 1200 Code 0284863 not connecting via DVA or receiving calls.

A few months ago I switched to a fibre line with EE.  I was sent two DVAs with the hub.  When my BT Decor 1200 is plugged into the DVA and I pick up the receiver I hear the dialling tone and can dial out and get connected.  But sometimes when I pick up the phone there is no dial tone.  If I switch off the DVA power and switch on again the DVA blinks orange and then goes blue. Pick up the phone and there is a dialling tone and I can dial out !

I didn't think it affected incoming calls until today.  I was expecting a call and it did not come at the expected time.  When I checked the phone - no dial tone!  I switched the DVA off and on, got the dial tone. Dialled 1571 and there was a message from my expected caller !

What is the cause of the problem and what is the solution?\

Is the phone all OK when plugged into the Phone socket on back of router, even just as a test?

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

@Seejayuu Move the DVA closer to the EE/BT hub, it may just be to far away to keep the Dect Frequency connection between each other. Manual for the unit is at the bottom of the Help link.

Thanks for the question. Answer; Yes ok when connected to the hub.  With an eye on JimM11's reply does the distance from the hub along the house electric plug points make any difference?

Thanks for your reply.  Does your reply mean the distance from the hub along the house electric plug points makes a difference?

@Seejayuu Yes, the DVA transmits to the EE Hub in the Dect frequency range, so if the two devices cannot reach each other then it may just not show, but the manual say's if true it should indicate by turning red.

Does not use Electric apart from supplying power to the DVA to operate with. Have a look at the adapter think there may be a few versions off them now, ie v1/v2/v3 etc. There is also a BT version single light and the newer EE logo version also.

Thanks JimM11.  I'd already downloaded the guide from your previous link - but thanks for the direct link in case I hadn't. My DVA (presume = Home Phone Adaptor) has no version number: just says Model No: X17-K43 Item code 003399.

The DVA has so far never turned red.  The only way I know it has lost connection is when I pick up the phone and no dialling tone - DVA light is still constant green.

You say 'Do not use Electric apart from supplying power to DVA.'  It is a dual power socket: DVA in one and portable radio in the other.  Does this mean the radio could be interfering and causing problems with DVA?

The DVA instructions do not warn you not to connect anything else from the same socket. Dual power sockets are standard issue these days.

@Seejayuu Power socket's are fine that will not be the issue, is the portable radio a Digital Radio ie a DAB device, there have been many instances reported on the Forum that the DVA just stops working, and you cannot tell that fact until as you do lift the receiver and oops no dial tone, so it's gone or locked up and power off/on again makes it work.

That you will find in the Home Services / Digital Home Phone instead off the Broadband section. How far is the Adapter to the EE Hub, and walls/doors etc between each other. Do not use have my dect base station plugged direct into my VOIP adapter and multiple Panasonic handset's about the home, no real issues with either.

One off the reason's why @XRaySpeX asked how is it all doing plugged into the back off the Hub as that always seems to work with no problem's.

""Does not use Electric apart from supplying power to the DVA to operate with"",,, DVA = Digital Voice Adapter = Home Phone Adapter ie all the same.... The older version linked below. EE manual has ""001366 V.4 – ADP 04.25 V2""

@JimM11   Catching up after the weekend.  Thanks and noted.  Thanks for ref to Home Services / Digital Home Phone.  I wasn't sure where to put my original question.

Q1 "is the portable radio a Digital Radio ie a DAB device," = Yes. Presume so.

Q2 "How far is the Adapter to the EE Hub, and walls/doors etc between each other?"  The EE hub is upstairs in a bedroom by a window where the telephone line comes into the house.  The DVA is in use downstairs in a room that is not under the bedroom.  I'll try putting the DVA+phone in another room downstairs in a power plug that has nothing else connected and see what happens !

My BT phone provides all I need and I don't wish to spend more money if possible when EE told me it would work !

@Seejayuu The Dect works on distance and items that can block the signal ie doors/walls/floors etc, so if you can try the DVA as close as possible ie directly under the EE Hub lower floor and see how it works, will just take a little time for you to find out as 1. I do not rate the DVA's that much anyway as per Forum reports. Neighbour uses one, located in his hall and Hub in the kitchen same floor, going to say 15' apart with two solid brick walls in the way, but it does appear to work for him.

It's NOT the power plug that does not matter, DAB should be fine radio wise so think that will not be an issue also.
