I hope to go walking in America next year for 6 months and ideally would like to keep my phone , but not be hit by daily £2.30 roam charges. is there anyway around this? Thanks

@jameslonewolf  You’ll not be hit with roaming charges of £2.47 per day as that’s for the EU only.  To use your phone in the US you’ll need to purchase the roam abroad pass at £25 per month.  You’ll be able to use your call and text allowance but only up to 50Gb per month if your tariff has this or more.      The problem you might encounter is that roaming is only for short stays abroad, 2 months in any 4 month period.  After this you could be charged International rates, but if you keep your usage low you should be ok as I’ve been yet to see anyone charge otherwise.

Thank you , sounds like I will need to pick a phone and package in the States.

@jameslonewolf  you might be better off calling customer services and asking them if you can up your tariff to include a smart benefit as the roam abroad pass is also a smart benefit.    Just don’t say upgrade if you request this.
