i have upgraded from a monthly contract to a sim only deal , my current plan end on the 4th December and my new plan starts on the 5th , however on my confirmation email of my upgrade is says the bill date will be 30th November but i will still be in my current plan on that date ?? any help to clear this up

I would assume that you are approaching the end of your minimum term, and that your 2year period expires on the 04/12. Your monthly bills are currently generated on the 30th of each month, that will continue regardless of any changes of price-plan.
If your current priceplan is due to end on 04/12, and your new plan starts on the 05/12, then your 30/11 bill will show a partial months charge for your current plan 30/11-04/12, and then your new plan from 05/12- your next bill on 30/12
