rolling contract? what's the catch?

So I went in store as my phone contract is due to end, and this time I just wanted a sim only deal while keeping my same number and same phone. But was confusing because they said I could have a rolling contract for about £13 pm with unlimited calls, unlimited texts and unlimited data, or another two year contract that would be more than £20 pm but with limited Gb of data. Why? Why would the rolling one be cheaper and offer more? I've not heard of them before and can't figure out what the catch is.

Also. I was a bit early to upgrade. I have two monthly payments left on existing 24m contract. But in the app it said I could pay a fee of 100quid thereabouts and upgrade now, but in store they said I have to go back next month and can't be done yet. Also confusing!

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @adam88q,
The store where you're making your purchase will be able to break down the differences in the plans they offered you. There are a few variables that could effect the cost such as data speed, inclusive extras or promotional discounts.

You can pay an early upgrade fee if you're moving to a plan with a new phone, but you can only upgrade to SIM only at the end of your contract.

Hope this helps. 🙂
