I have an ipad the contract finishes in November, so there is an upgrade fee to upgrade now, was hoping I could trade in my ipad and that would cover the upgrade fee on calling EE I was told this only applied to phone contracts - yet when I had searched it - it’s still not clear!
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @Grealish10
I know it can be disappointing not receiving the outcome you were hoping for!
One of our mobile phone trade-in offers (which I suspect the team spoke to you about when calling) is for Upgrade Anytime, and this is where you can essentially swap/trade in your mobile device during its contract term if you have taken an eligible plan.
Also, depending on the mobile device you have you may be able to trade in on your standard upgrade date, and this would be for a monthly discount from the contract you choose.
We wouldn't trade in a mobile device for money off the early upgrade fee alongside an upgrade. I know this is what you were hoping to do with your iPad, but that option isn't available I'm afraid even for mobiles.
However, you are welcome to look at the option of selling your device, and this is where you can be paid for old gadgets. Then you're free to choose how best to spend this, and it could be put towards any upfront costs 😊
I hope this helps.
