I have recently come out of contract, and currently I am technically unable to upgrade my phone to a SIM-only plan while also using a Friends & Family discount code.
The reason I like my current plan is because it allows me to travel internationally with roaming included, while also providing an Apple One subscription, which I use daily. However, because the company only offers this SIM plan as a promotional deal rather than a standard-priced option, it has become impossible for me to upgrade and apply the Friends & Family discount. I’m extremely disappointed by this.
As a result, my options seem to be either:
This is made even more complicated because I’m looking to complete a change of ownership, which would mean being locked into a plan without roaming for six months. I would also need to purchase Apple One separately at an additional cost of around £19 per month.
Overall, there doesn’t appear to be a reasonable solution available. I have spoken to customer support, and the operator I dealt with was very helpful and lovely. However, I do feel there should be a better way for customers to use Friends & Family discounts without running into these kinds of issues.
I’d appreciate if this situation could be reviewed or if there are any alternative solutions available.

@Blairmacal Until EE make this tariff available again without a network discount already applied theirs nothing that can be done.
But don’t forget EE don’t have to allow all tariff types to be available with or without a customer discount code.
