EE took my direct debit for 7 years for devices that had ceased

Need help I have just realised that EE has been taking a direct debit for the last 7 years. £80 + a month! I have contacted EE they offered me £550 refund. I know I should go down the route of financial ombudsman but do they help? thanks Lynne
