I recently upgraded my contract 4 months early (Mobile Phone + Sim plan) to an All Rounder Unl (keeping my SIM card) with a trade in (sending back my old mobile). I received my phone yesterday morning however the My EE app / website is still showing my old contract. Is there a waiting period for the new contract to be started or is it because I need to send back my previous handset first?

Just checked this morning, looks like My EE app / website is showing my employee discount.
I was supposed to get my mobile phone yesterday, as per the dispatch email. However, I received it on Sunday. Not sure if the dispatch date corresponds to the contract start date, but it's all sorted now.
