Unexpected charges on bill

Could anyone explain to me how it's possible for my son to run up £170 of Playstation charges on his phone bill (which I pay) when I put a £0 cap on the account so that he couldn't do such things? He is denying doing this and I'm kinda believing him as it's not even the correct phone number showing on my account so do you think I'm being charged for someone elses contract?!

@Judeyjude68 : Spend Caps do not restrict 3rd Party Charges to Bill - see Set up and manage Spend Cap

A Spend Cap can’t restrict:

  • charge to bill services like using your mobile bill as your App Store payment method or to enter text-based competitions and make donations

I've never engaged in charge-to-bill so don't have first-hand experience of what security measures should be in-place, but my expectation would be...

The third party account or service in-question has password-protection to prevent unauthorised access to it. And when a particular phone number is first mooted as a payment method, that should be covered by a One Time Password (OTP) by text message to ensure valid access to it.

Out of interest, how old is your son?
