I would like to explore the option of ending my two years contract but making changes to the data plan I have currently. I no longer need the unlimited data plan but just 10-15 Gb. I have been on the unlimited data plan for a year and one month now. Any support would be much appreciated.

An early upgrade to a SIM Only contract plan may be your best bet, however you will be liable for an early upgrade fee for the remainder of your current contract which must be paid in full before you can upgrade. The cost of this will depend on your current plan and will also involve starting a new contract term on your new plan. This process would ensure you keep your same mobile number.
Alternatively if you did not want to upgrade and chose to leave or move to PAYG, you would be liable for early termination charges if you just tried to "terminate" your plan. (Also by just terminating your plan as opposed to porting it out to another network or PAYG, you would forfeit your number in the process.)
The self-serve systems may not give you the SIM Only early upgrade option and only give the choice for handsets, so you might have to call EE if you encounter difficulty here.

Contractually, you agreed to your plan for at least the duration of your minimum term.
No-one on this forum has access to your individual account to advise on your specific circumstances, so you should contact EE-CS on 150 to enquire. However, the above principle is likely to prevail.
