Why can't you use a student discount when purchasing in-store?

I'm in town today so left purchasing until today as I got all day.

They tell me I have to apply afterwards which I know is wrong the T&C's state you can't add it retrospective. But nowhere does it state it's online only like they are telling me.

After talking to CS it turns out Totum needs to change the T&C's on their page where it has EEs T&C's as no where there does it state online only.

BUT it turns out student beans which does state online only had a 20% discount code which I didn't know about (Totum was only 15%)

So I just upgraded online and hope it comes tomorrow. Paying less than I thought I would be thanks to the advisor that told me about the 20% student beans can't remember his name.
