Selling Contract Phone

My S24 ultra is currently under contract and I will be paying for it until august 2027, I'm wondering if I'm allowed to sell it or trade it in with EE?

If the device was taken on Flex Pay then the Credit Agreement is with EE. It is a fixed-sum loan agreement for the value of the device, so the customer owns the phone from day one but are liable for repayment of the fixed-sum amount to EE according to their payment schedule.

However, if this was an EE Shop Finance purchase then this is usually via Glow. My understanding is these operate similarly, with Glow paying for the EE Shop purchase and the Credit Agreement being held directly with them. They will expect payments to be made to clear this Credit Agreement, but will have little interest in the device itself. Info & FAQs can be found here from EE, and here (info) and here (FAQs) from Glow.

Yes, you may sell it after 6 months as long as you continue paying EE for it. Until then EE owns it.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Hi @XRaySpeX

I am not sure if that is correct anymore if the device is on a separate credit agreement  to the tariff unlike old plans this is a loan against the handset. Doesn't Glow finance manage the phone credit. The OP needs to read their terms and conditions but I suspect they will need to settle before selling it.

I might be wrong but until it is paid off the phone belongs to the finance company, same as if you purchased a car on credit.

Thanks
