I've been with ee for years and upgraded to my current contract in January 2021, when i upgrade next year will I no longer be able to use my data/minutes when I go abroad, obviously I fine this year as my contract started before the cut of data but just unsure if upgrading is considered the same as starting a new contract or not. Many thanks

An upgrade is a new contract. It replaces your current contract, but keeps your billing date the same.
Once you upgrade you will be liable to the new EU roaming charges, either £2 a day or alternatively you may buy the Roam Abroad Pass for £10 / month, in order to use your UK allowances in the EU
If you don't upgrade, you won't be liable to these new charges.
