Hi There, I paid early by credit card, but after the bill date. If I was to cancel the direct debit via bank app would they take the credit from the early payment?

Hi @Dillanv123,

Welcome to the EE Community 🙂

It would depend as it will take 5 working days notice for an early payment or cancellation to take effect on your direct debit payment from this end.

If your card payment was made after the bill was produced but with more than 5 working days until it was due to go out by direct debit, then the card payment would be reflected in the direct debit, so reducing the amount going out or making it so no direct debit came out if you paid the full bill balance with your payment.

If the payment was made with less than 5 working days until the direct debit was due, then the full direct debit will still attempt, if that payment was to go out so that you were in a scenario where you made two payments this month, you can get in touch and request a refund of the overpayment.

Any cancellation of your direct debit directly with your bank may require less notice for cancelling pending direct debit payments, but its not something I can advise on. If you were able to cancel it directly with your bank then the card payment you have made already would have already been applied to reduce your account balance.

I hope that clears things up but if you need any further clarification feel free to ask any follow up questions
