Previously a customer, can't get a new contract

I closed my account and transferred my number to another provider last month, but signal is awful so I want to come back to EE. I tried to purchase a new contract with a brand new email address (that I'd literally just created for this) and a different contact number (used my work number which isn't an EE contract). I was not signed in to the site. It got to the credit check stage and recognised my info, said I had to log in. Trouble is, logging in just takes me to a 'link your device/account' page because it thinks I have an account.

I tried the live chat option and they said they'd removed my email address from the old account and it was definitely closed. They couldn't understand why it wasn't working and said I should call up. I called customer services and they said this is a common complaint and I have to go into a store to resolve it. I have a one year old, I work full-time, the nearest store is a bus journey away. I will struggle to do this any time soon. 

This is a bug with the EE site. How can we log it with the website tech team to sort out? Is it possible to delete an account, so the system doesn't recognise me in future?

As the account was closed a short time ago if the details match an account this may be picked up as an existing customer, to get this looked into and the order processed please call us on 0800 956 6000 and the team will be happy to help.

Hi Leanne, thanks for getting back to me! How long does an account usually have to be closed for before it won't think I'm still a customer? I called EE earlier in the week when trying to order the Pixel 7 Pro and they were unable to help and said I have to go to a store. Is the number you've provided for a specific team who might be able to try something different? Thanks again for trying to help, I appreciate it! 🙂

There is no set time frame I'm aware of, the number is for new customers wishing to join EE, the team will be more than happy to help get this looked into for you.
