Hi, I want to pay for my phone early and I'm on a 24-month contract.
I rang up and was told it would cost so much. Then it would be £ 32 monthly to have a mobile plan as I'm in a 24-month contract still. I was under the impression that once your phone was paid off it would end the contract and you could switch to a sim-only deal.
Any help would be great

EE's traditional contracts have no concept of paying off a phone - you had one single monthly payment covering airtime & device, which continued on a rolling basis with a minimum term,
The recent FlexPay plans have two separate contracts each with their own payment. A rolling payment for airtime, and a fixed-term plan for the phone.

So basically I cant pay my plan of early? and reduce my monthly cost? on a 24month contract

If you're on a traditional plan, you can make additional payments whenever you like - these will be held as credit on your account towards future bills.
If you're on a FlexPay plan, you can make additional payments against the device-plan, and reduce those monthly costs.

Out of curiosity are traditional plans available anymore? I looked in the shop but could only configure a FlexPay plan. The phone I chose was an iPhone 16 Pro 256GB but the device plan costs £95 (even if you pay in full) more than buying the phone from Apple or other outlets.
That's not all, the airtime plans cost more too!
Unlimited All Rounder for iPhone is £45 a month with a phone plan or £42 a month when purchased as SIMO.
Unlimited Full Works for iPhone is £51 a month with a phone or £48 a month when purchased as SIMO.
Why do these discrepancies exist?

The traditional contracts are still available by call/chat with the upgrades team (my friend recently got an iPhone 16 pro max in a traditional contract). However, for unknown reasons, EE does not show these plans online. You will be amazed that these traditional plans have better pricing than flex pay plans. Also, if you have EE perks, they will apply to the whole price of the traditional plan, whereas in flex pay, they only apply to the airtime plan, which is already overpriced.
Thank you.

It's pretty nuts. I bought my phone direct from Apple and I'm currently on All Rounder SIM Unlimited £36. I want to move to the latest version of the same plan which will give me an entry point into 5G SA. I guess if the plan is cheaper when Black Friday comes along I won't be able to move over.
