Paying bills

Every time I try to pay my phone bill I always get some form of error, either via the phone app or the website. I've missed 2 months where I haven't been able to pay because when I try to, I get an error and it's just slips my mind to try again at a later date, now the website/app services have been down for at least a week. What gives?! And  I'm getting extra charges because of this.
