Moving from Sim only contract to handset contract

Hi,

If I was to take out a Sim only contract would I be eligible for an upgrade to a handset contract at some point?  If so, how long would I have to be on the Sim only contract for, and would a further credit check have to be done?

For new SIM-only customers, there is a 6month lockout after which you may upgrade to a phone-based plan.
