Moving broadband from BT to EE.

On 14th August 2025 i moved my Broadband from BT to EE on BTs recommendation. I was advised/persuaded to have a free Lenovo tablet which i said i didn't need or want , i was told i would be silly not to take it because it's totally free and i could give it away to a friend if i wanted to. I eventually agreed to have it. My first monthly bill from EE for my mobile phones showed an increase of £26.10 and it transpires this a charge for the tablet. I am now trying to get this tablet cancelled. Do not take up this so called free tablet offer from EE. It's not free.

@hmwoody17 : You were mislead & mis-sold.

Only the h/ware itself is free. It comes with an airtime plan for which you pay a monthly fee.

Did you get this in an EE Store? If so, there is no statutory returns policy. You will need to rely on Consumer Rights Act 2015 as misrepresentation.

@hmwoody17 If it was told to you it was FREE then have EE listen to the call handlers conversation and stand up to it!

EE said they  can't do anything about this because it was outside the 14 day cooling off period and i explained of course it was after the 14 days because i didn't know it was costing me an extra £26.10 until i got my next months mobile phone bill. They have now listened to my initial telephone conversation on 14th August with EE when moving my Broadband to them and have agreed i was never given an itemised breakdown of the costs which i should have been given.

EE has confirmed after listening to the initial telephone conversation that i WAS told the tablet was totally free and was not informed of any monthly increase to my mobile phone bill. EE have now Emailed all the relevant information to the person who i spoke to initially and also to her manager. I am still waiting for a response. I am 78 years old and my wife is 77, this is causing us a lot of anxiety and stress especially my wife. Someone please sort this out.

Hello @hmwoody17

Thanks for keeping us updated.

When you last spoke with the agent dealing with this, did they advise they will be giving you a call to discuss your complaint?

Katie

@hmwoody17 When replying use the @Katie_B who is EE, she is very helpful and will do what ever she can to help within the limits that she will be constrained by!

The only people i have spoken to since the initial phone call to move my broadband is EE it was someone  called Laticia and she said all information has been Emailed to the people who i originally dealt with moving my broadband. She said they would contact me but nothing yet.
