Leaving EE at end of contract

Hi, I've decided to look elsewhere when my contract ends on 16/2/25....... that's 30 days away. I want to keep my current number so I will ask EE for a PAC Code.

I'm seeing conflicting info re whether or not I need to give EE 30 days notice of my intention to leave on 16/2/25.

EE site says "If you want to cancel your plan at the end of your 24-month commitment period, you'll need to give us a minimum of 30 days notice. You can do this from up to 45 days before the end of your 24-month commitment period"

Another poster on this forum asked the same question last November and was advised that it's not necessary to give 30 days notice if you will be requesting a PAC Code - it's one route or the other.

Obviously I'd like to clarify this position, can anyone with experience of this please advise.

Many thanks

Gerry.

@gesanners : If you use a PAC (or STAC) to move to another network & it is used after your min. term, you don't need to give EE notice of cancellation. The PAC is in lieu of notice.

As you want to keep your number, text PAC to 65075. It will respond with your PAC.

The PAC process is instead of a 30day cancellation.

The 30day cancellation process applies when you either want outright disconnection, or optional migration to PAYG. If you're looking to port-out, then a PAC applies. You use one process or the other. The only caveat would be that, whichever method you use, your minimum contractual term applies regardless - so early termination charges would apply if you, say, use a PAC with a week to go.

Incidentally, be sure to test any new network with a PAYG SIM before moving. It's the only real-world test of whether that operator provides the coverage & performance levels that you need.

Thanks to everyone who provided me with clarity on this. I've been with Orange/EE since 1996 so no experience of porting.

Hi. Did this myself today. 30 days to go with EE. Signed up with o2. Application asks do I want to keep my number. Yes. Text PAC to *this* number. Done. Within seconds, pac number delivered to phone along with all settlement details from EE. (They should owe me money - Charlatans) put pac number into o2 website and sim is on the way and the process of porting the number will begin whenever I decided to put the sim into my phone. 👍
