Giving my phone away

My contract is up at the end if November. My son uses the phone and the phone will now be paid for. He wants to take over the account and go sim only with another provider. How easy is this and what do I need to do?

@TinyBiny66 : Please be aware that:

  1. These mobile contracts don't just end, just the min. term expires. They are not fixed term contracts. After the min. term they just carry on at the same price on a rolling 30-days' notice basis until you explicitly cancel or upgrade.
  2. EE has no concept of paying off the handset. You agreed to pay the same price for the full duration of the contract. You may always choose to upgrade your contract to a cheaper SIM-Only contract within the last 45 days of your contract term.

You need to call CS with both of you available on the line to effect a change of ownership. He will need to pass a credit check. He will then be paying for that contract. If you can't do it together CS will give the current owner a password for him to quote when he calls.

@TinyBiny66   Why not just allow your son to continue as it now, then you give notice to terminate the contract when you can,  ( 30 days before the minimum term) you also need request the device to be unlock now and it’ll be ready to move to a different network when the sim is ready.    No need to change ownership now it’s only a couple of months.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
Thanks Chris
