Friends & Family code not working on early upgrade

Hi

I've been given a friend's & family code to use but it doesn't appear to be working when trying to upgrade. My contract end date is 12th Dec but I can upgrade for free from 29th Oct (today). 

When I select a plan (I've tried multiple phones and plans) it says "This code is not valid with your current selection. Please make sure you meet all the conditions of this promotion."

Is this because I'm trying to use it on an early upgrade plan?

@mikeyplum  Is the tariff you selected already discounted?  You can not have 2 discounts on one tariff.   Even if that tariff has the option to trade in and receive a tariff discount because of that trade in you can not use a discount code. 

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

I've tried it on every different type of tariff I can find. But most of them either say "save £xxx" or "was £xxx" or have some form of gift like buds or a prepaid cash card. 

@mikeyplum , You may need to speak to EE customer service and they should be able to help. It could be that the plan is too cheap for the discount and you would need to choose a more expensive one to get the discount, as not all plans are available with a discount voucher.

SOLVED:

So I managed to get my F&F code working, in an unconventional way. After waiting until I was completely out of commitment, I tried again and I got the same message "This code is not valid for your selected product... blah blah" no matter what handset/plan combo I selected (and there were many I tried). 

In the end, I tried:

  • Chrome
  • Chrome Incognito
  • Edge
  • Edge after clearing cookies
  • Edge Private Mode

All the above resulted in the same error. 

What worked was:

  • Enter the code, press enter, receive error "This code is not valid for your selected product..."
  • Change the last character of the code to something random, so the code is then incorrect.
  • Press enter. Receive error "Code is invalid"
  • Change the last character of the code to the correct character, so that the code is then correct
  • Press Enter
  • The code then worked. 

Not sure if this will work for you, but it worked for me.
