Did you mean:

EE ruined my credit score

I had been an EE mobile and broadband customer for more than ten years.
Last year (May 2018) I changed the phone provider and closed my mobile account.
I removed my Direct Debit from my EE mobile account for safety reasons. However, I continued being on EE broadband.

Months later I found out that there was a default in my credit rating because of an £18 unpaid EE mobile bill. When I closed my account I believed I had paid everything off. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any communication from them either by email or phone regarding this issue. I paid the bill as soon as I found out and I also closed my broadband account around the same time (March 2019).

I contacted EE and they refused to remove the default.
This stigmatizing practice is infuriating and unethical, especially when it is used against unsuspected and loyal customers. My credit rating has plummeted (and the default will remain for six years) and it is impossible for me to get a mortgage now, because of an £18 bill which I was unaware of.

What would be the best way to deal with it?

@Vasilis_M

You are not a customer anymore. Doesn't matter if you are a Broadband customer the accounts are not linked.

You will receive a final bill in the post as per the T&C's.

If you moved house without telling EE that is your fault not EE.

If your post gets lost again that is not EEs fault.

If you regard it as junk mail and just throw it without opening again not EEs fault.

If people can't seem to think they will have a final bill to pay then that's their fault.

You are always advised when leaving to keep your direct debit in place incase you have mlre to pay or even if they owe you money.

Ignorance isn't a defence.

So what now? EE mobile is different to EE Broadband? lol

Do you know what is ignorance, cowboy? To ignore real life and real conditions, as many people here had the same problem, and just sweepingly refer to T&Cs as if it's your bible.

This is not working. Keep saying the same things. It doesn't change a thing.

So people can't be bothered to read or refuse to read the T&C's which they agree to when signing up means it's all EEs fault?

Regardless of you like it or not the fact of the matter is if you owe a company money they have every right to put markers against your credit file it doesn't matter if it's thousands or pennies.

They will only take markers off if it were a genuine mistake.

You can continue to call us names etc it doesn't change the fact you failed to read your contract.

So you think tarnishing someones credit report for 6 years, the same timeframe as a CCJ is acceptable.......for a £17 default......get a life both of you. No one on this forum is interested in your dribble, so you can get this post removed like the last one, which was another pathetic act.

@CB000

If your posts are being removed it’s nothing to do with us as that post would of broken the rules of the forum so got moderation.

and a debt is still a debt regardless of the amount.  EE doesn’t control your credit report you do with your own debt payments.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@Vasilis_M   Yes they are separate.  Your not billed for each at the same time to make one payment,  unless you just happen to have the same date but it’s 2 payments

They are separate payments for each they have nothing to do with each other.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@CB000 you trying to make out you're some kind of detective knowing my last name?

It's not hard I have a picture of my Facebook post within my community account as I sent it to someone on here who is also buying an ID3.

If only you took the same approach and read what you sign.

It doesn't matter if you o KY owed 1pence you should have laid it and then you wouldn't have this issue.

You just repeat the same things…reading T and Cs. Irrelevant.
We’re talking about debts of £17 and £18 that a company didn’t try to get in touch for other than a letter, and then marking someone’s credit file. It’s mean. Very mean. People make mistakes and there are consequences. Here the consequences are disproportionate. It’s unfair. This is why people are angry.

You contradict yourself in the same sentence.

They didn't try to get in touch other than a letter.

So they did get in touch with you.

A letter is a form of communication the last I checked.

You can say why don't they send it by text etc.

You left. You may have had that number disconnected. A letter to the address you had on file is a good way of communicating with you.

You can continue to repeat yourself and call us names etc but like I keep saying this doesn't excuse you from not paying your bills.

It doesn't matter if EE is a multi billion pound company. They are a company to make money. It isn't s not for profit. They don't have to swallow up debt because you feel like you don't need to pay.

Oh and reading the T&C's isn't irrelevant. It's your contract. It's legally binding which you agree to when signing.
