I looked a couple of times at upgrading but decided not to before finishing the order. I've received notification that EE hard checked me despite me not completing the order. How is that even allowed? I stopped the order because I couldn't be bothered with getting credit checked for a phone, I've got great credit but I'm not happy with this at all

Was this for a Flex Pay agreement where you pay for Device and Airtime separately and are asked for your income band?

I think so yeah. Was looking to upgrade my pixel but changed my mind. If I don't place an order I do not expect to have an impact to my credit file

Did you get to the bottom of this? I've had the exact same thing, a credit check with no actual changes to my plan!
