Direct debit from a joint account

Hi there. So long story short, my partner and I are potentially interested in opening a joint bank account in future or more specifically, she will be added to my sole nationwide bank account thus making it a joint one. Do EE allow phone bills to be paid from a joint account and would they even need to know that the account has been turned into a joint one? Thanks.

My understanding of the joint account rules are that payments can be made to or from the account if either of the account holders are named, or both.

On that basis, if the sort-code & account number don't change - I have doubts that any payment beneficiary would even realise there's been an additional account holder added. That's between the account holder(s) and the bank themselves.

Ok thanks. Yeah the account number and sort code would not change. my partner's name would literally just be added to same account so EE wouldn't need to be affected right? I read another post where somebody was trying to set up a new DD but it would not take a joint name and an EE employee actually said joint accounts cannot be used but then I think they may have tried just entering a sole name and it worked? Does this sound feasible? Thanks.

Hi @RG1996,

Yes, you can continue to use your joint account with your name as usual.
