Deceased partner

I have 2 mobile contracts under my name, one being my recently deceased partner which I wish to terminate, mobile number being xxxxxxxxxxx.  My partner was diagnosed with long covid in 2020 and was unable to continue being self employed, therefore I took out an additional contract on his behalf to fund his mobile.  Could you please let me know if the termination will incur any cost to myself and if any goodwill might be taken into consideration with respect to the length of time I have been with EE.  The phone that he had is still in perfect condition and only contains his personal photos, emails and text messages or additional apps.  Thank you, Katrina

@Katrina0510 : As the contract is in your name, not in his, I can't see that you would get any relief from termination fees. Any goodwill payments would be in the gift of EE & we users wouldn't be able to say whether they would make them in the circumstances.

However you could try:

Closing the account of someone who’s died

Use the online form to notify us of a bereavement.

We’ll need:

  • the account holder’s name and number
  • a number to contact you on

You can also let us know by phone. Call 150 from an EE phone or 07973 100 150 from any phone.

If you experience a bereavement, you can either:

  • disconnect their broadband or number and close their account
  • transfer the connection or number to someone else
If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.
