Contract breach, business use.

Hi all,

Just a quick one, the company I work for are wanting to get rid of our company issued mobiles and have us use our own phones for work purposes with a £5 p/w reimbursement.

I'm not personally happy with this. Would this be in breach on my contract with EE and therefore I can tell my manager no?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

@AndyPants007   No it will not be a breach of your contract with EE,   You do have the right not to used your personal equipment for work purposes as it’s nothing todo with your employment.

But you could receive a new contract from your employer stating that you’ll be required to use your personal device if you have one and you’ll receive a monetary reimbursement for such use.

You also need to think of the cost to your company on why they are doing this.    It be could/would be a huge saving for them and it’s better than redundancies.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

This would be a matter of negotiation between yourself and your employer, but I don't see how they can enforce the use of personal equipment for work purposes unless you accept that as part of your contract of employment.

Bear in mind that if you use the same number for work & personal use, then you run the risk of work usage when you are not working - on holiday, for example. Opinions may vary, but I'd take a dim view of any employer who insists on personal phones being used for work purposes.
