Contacting an Australian land line using my EE mobile phone, What are the costs

I have a friend in Queensland who is now resident in a care home their. He has a landline facility in his room. This means I can contact him using my UK mobile phone. what costs does this incur. I have unlimited calls and Texts with my EE FACILITY, BUT CANT FIND IF THERE ARE ANY OBSTACLES OR EXTRA CHARGES FOR MAKING SUCH CALLS WITH MY MOBILE.

Welcome to the community,

You need to make sure that you have call abroad enabled, to make sure that calls are cheaper when calling another country.

It will cost you to make calls to another country, your unlimited calls and text are for the UK.

You may find it cheaper to use  an app, such as Skype, obviously you will need to add credit. I actually find Mobile VoIP very good.

Standard Rates: £3.42/min on contract or £1/min on PAYG.

International calls & texts to overseas nos. from UK can be rather expensive but EE has a free add-on that anyone, on PAYG or contract, can apply for to give these calls & texts at a fraction of the standard rates. See The Free CALL ABROAD Add-on for Cheap Calls/Texts from UK .

Then it becomes 8p/min on contract or 3p/min on PAYG. 🙂

is there anything more up to date, we will soon be in 2026. 

such an easy question to ask but an almost impossible answer to find

That post was 1st put up in 2018 but has been constantly revised since, the latest being earlier this year, as you will see from its Last Edited date.

With the Call Abroad Add-on calls from UK to a landline in Oz would be 16p on contract or 3p on PAYG per min.
