Hi,
When you upgrade, does your existing insurance contract automatically cancel or do you need to cancel your insurance separately?

Welcome to the EE Community
When you are upgrading to a new phone, if you are not taking insurance for the new phone, the previous insurance you had for your old phone would cancel automatically when the new contract starts.
If you are taking insurance with the new phone, that will automatically replace the insurance of your old phone.
