My granddaughters last BILL was 97pounds I would like to know why as I feel I was conned into a contract as in shop I was quoted 60 this is getting ridiculous

As bills are paid monthly in advance, there may be some payment for the rest of the month plus the following month. If you could take a look at the bill, you should be able to see the breakdown of it and this will explain why the first bill is higher, the next one should be then £60.-.

@200816  £97 is a bit steep if this was the first bill for a tariff that is £60,  but you do pay more for the first bill as you are also paying for the days before the bill was produced and then the month ahead.  Is this the first bill ? 

I’ll hazard a guess that there are out of allowance charges on this also but as @Schockwave  says check the bill breakdown.   just to point out MMS (picture messages) are not covered via the contract and are chargeable.
