waiting for the 3rd Openreach engineer

Just signed up. Found a username after trying FedUpWithEE, and similar already taken.

Went to EE from BT in January 2025. About 1 month of messing around to get the EE systems to work and then from mid-September 2025 to now speed varies throughout the day from low single figures to the guaranteed speed. Attendances by 3 guides and just waiting for the 3rd Openreach engineer. Many telephone calls.Everyone seems to accept there is a fault (despite closing the fault off several times so the 30 day cancellation period is not actually reached) but they can't work out why or what it is. I get a better, more consistent speed if I unplug the line and use the hybrid in an area where the EE mobile signal is generally poor.

Some strange advice. When I was getting 6 mb stood right by the router it was suggested an extender would help. When I was down to mid-teens speed I was told to check that the wall box to router cable was still plugged in.

Worked when it was BT for several years without issue.

I suppose they are just too big to actually care.

I'll share this information with the team for you @WhyAreEEUseless

I would expect Chris to be getting back in touch about your case, and this will give you the opportunity to discuss your concerns further.

@WhyAreEEUseless With you posting and not going to say exactly but it is possible you have developed a line fault with the copper speed range, my EE Smarthub+ as soon as i connected it to the VDSL, showed up within a couple off day's my Sky hubs had nada issue's what so ever, did take 6/7 visit's and a patient OR Engineer to back trace find the connection issue and sort it, once done zero problems after that, showed as a sync issue, then speed's would be forced down on the EE router as the DLM tried hard to stabilise the connection, had EE on the speed dial, every 3 weeks reported, and did take 3 months to get it sorted!

So last night my daughter was in tears because she could not do her homework as she needed to look something up on the internet. We can't even use the hybrid thing I pay for as the EE signal around here is so poor.

@WhyAreEEUseless If you ever manage to get to an EE Mobile specialist they will be truthful to you, had the same EE site wonderful coverage checker is Great 5G Outdoor/ not so good indoor, 4G super no matter what, EE response you just must be on the fringe off that super, walk inside NOT even a mobile signal, back to O2 not the greatest but at least i could use a mobile call.

Godsend was wi-fi calling, if that did not work i would have been up the creek bailing out the boat, NO wi-fi you are without any form off working system!

That's a bit like the guide who told me she suggested I use an extender so I got better wifi even though I was testing a few feet from the router.

Been told today that there are a number of customers in our village with the same problem as mine so it's a more fundamental problem, not just my line.

Does beg the question why this hasn't dawned on anyone in the 2 months I, and presumably others, have been complaining. Well, it dawned on me a while ago and I asked if others around me were having problems but EE couldn't tell me.

And apparently BT are not part of the same organisation as EE. Clearly EE haven't even told their staff that they are employed in a division of the BT Group.

Anyway, looks like I got another badge so not all bad. Anyone know off they are worth anything on eBay?

@WhyAreEEUseless Just looked 5 badger now, soon be able to start a scout group no doubt you can tell them they are not a member off any such organisation! Ebay zero you need to pay to get rid!

Openreach engineer turned up on Friday, spent an age up two different poles, poor chap, as the weekend storms were kicking off. Didn't fix the problem though.

Saturday night I was looking for an alternative supplier, one that might actually do what they are contracted to do, and while I was looking I had a pompous text from EE telling me that I would have to pay circa £1450 if I changed supplier and they were sending me a bill for that sum.

Go away! What you going to do, sue me?

For a start, I haven't actually changed yet and secondly, EE have failed so miserably to deliver the "guaranteed" service they won't get anything off me when I finally jump ship.

@WhyAreEEUseless You do have to follow the procedures for allowing EE to fix the fault, the complaints procedures also you have to follow to the T, EE will go after the full final bill, so it may be that OTS if you looked about has fired over a request to EE otherwise how would they know that fact! Yes they will sue you, bad credit you, and send round the bailiff's to collect!

I will bow to your superior knowledge on technical matters, Jim, but litigation is my area.

The claptrap about bad credit records and bailiffs is the typical bully boy nonsense from organisations against individuals. To get to the CCJ appearing on a credit record they would have to

1. Sue me (go ahead)

2. Obtain judgment (no chance)

3. Take enforcement proceedings (can't without a judgement)

Meanwhile, I will pursue a counter-claim which I would expect to be successful, I would expect to obtain judgment and if it is not paid up promptly I will take other enforcement action more chaotic and embarrassing than instructing a bailiff.

A CCJ will not appear on a credit record until it it outstanding 14 days from when it is due to be paid.

@WhyAreEEUseless Good to know, got you logged in my file away as the one to know now! 👍👌
