Currently on full fibre to the home 700 full fibre gigabit with a smart hub 6 and 2 extenders.
Contacted the support line as I was only getting 50 mbs upstairs and enquired about the wifi7 I keep seeing being advertised.
I was told it wouldn't help much as most devices are not compatible with wifi7 (some of my laptops are a couple of years old as is the TV)...also it would cost me an extra £10pm on top of the £93 I'm currently paying.
Does that sound right?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@Tiggercoco Which bit?
Yes it costs an extra £10 per month.
And unless your devices are WiFi 7 it will be no help.
You would be better ensuring what ever router you have now and the extenders are positioned to provide the best coverage for your needs.

@Tiggercoco Does not matter what devices are a couple of years old, unless you know specific that they are wi-fi 7 or 6e then there is NO gain to having anything more than you have at present. Although it was posted that a user managed to get the Smart Wireless Plus working with a PRO Router, the safer bet is a complete swap out, Router and Smart Wireless matching pair for sure. Should not cost you £10 extra as you already have the Plus extenders so £10 - £7 = £3 only extra in term. New 24 month contract for sure to cover the cost's wi-fi 6 to 7.
You can sure forget about the TV being wi-fi 7 no need for that kind of speed on a TV.!
As for getting more speed on the extender may or may not that's a try see situation, if you were to look if Ethernet Cable between EE Router and Smart wireless, then that is a way different speed situation.

OK thanks for the info!..yes have just read elsewhere "To take full advantage of Wi-Fi 7, you need to upgrade to devices that are specifically certified for Wi-Fi 7"....the adverts seem to leave that bit out!
Have no intention of upgrading all my laptops so will just carry on.
Are there any routers not from EE that could be bought that will put out a better speed?

@Tiggercoco You did not say that you where having a Router speed issue, so is this something that you wish to raise now?
EE Smarthub+ SH31B connected.

WiFi7 is not likely to help with distant devices either.

Yes town house style so ground/1st and 2nd floor...study on the top floor, have an extender there...router is on the ground floor.
I do have 900mbs to the router...but by the time it gets all the way upstairs even with the extender its down to 50-70mbs.
It may just be a case of "they all do that Sir"...in which case I will just have to accept it.

@Tiggercoco You just cannot break the laws of mesh networks, further away they are slower they are, and even with dedicated wireless backhaul only effective i have seen is Asus or any Tri-band / Quad Band devices, are the later you are talking serious money, those alone probably the cost of you complete 24 month package price...
Seriously look to see if cable between router to extenders are possible, even hidden along carpet edge etc.

Thanks all! very useful advice, I will try and move things around a bit.
Musn't grumble, its really not that bad!

@Tiggercoco Would certainly try moving your extender you may get a better speed/signal. And now you can see the little extra cost if it is only the £3 extra, wi-fi 7 router and up to 3 smart wireless devices, is not really a bad deal from what you have currently. Gives you future proof, and if the 6Ghz band can cut it as the backhaul it will be free and clear so you may get a better speed, just set the expectations for sure.
