WiFi setup and Apple AirPlay issue

Hi, I’ve just notated to EE from BT, and setup my new router earlier today.

I’ve noticed that when I am streaming music to a speaker using airplay that every two minutes or so it ‘glitches’ or ‘pauses’, so there’s a tiny break in the music of maybe a second or so.

Anyone else come across this?   If it continues I’ll have to give the helpline a call as it’s v annoying.

cheers

OK, this is driving me potty.

I have a router and a repeater unit upstairs.   I don't have a large house, its a small semi detached.

I am continually getting tiny little drop outs when streaming music.   I have tried turning off the repeater in case thats causing the issue, but when I am upstairs listening to music that makes the problem worse.

I didn't have this issue when I was with BT, but since I installed the new EE kit two weeks ago this has been continually happening.

I'm not sure what to do next, is there anyone I can turn to for help?

thanks

@Mikegf04   Do you still have the BT router? Are you able to use it?

Sometimes the extra features do not work so well with some devices, or it could be interference on WiFi channels, an analyser can help check on that.

HI @Mustrum  thanks.

No, I sent the BT router back.  I think you're right, its some sort of interference.   I have tried this with the Wi Fi plus repeater unit turned off, but no real success, just in case there was something around that.

I don't have an analysing tools...maybe I should ask EE to send an engineer to have a look at things.

cheers

@Mikegf04  Alas I don’t have the same router, however if you are able to log into it and turn the 5Ghz WiFi band off then try and stream again.

Also if the 2.4Ghz channels have a mode option, try the option on that one at a time. If you can get it to stream more smoothly it should then be ok to turn the 5Ghz band back on.

@Mikegf04  Have you tried the simplest of options and just restarting the router ?  Turn it off for 30+ seconds and then restart it.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

HI - I have experimented with turning off the repeater/WiFi plus device, and restarting the router from the app  (I haven't actually turned the router off at the mains tbh, but that sounds like a good thing to try).

I'll try and report back

Did you ever find a solution? I'm suffering from the same issue

Good morning @mpritch, thanks for reaching out to us about this.

What sort of setup do you have here, is it the latest EE Smart Hub and Smart WiFi extenders?

Also how far is your AirPlay speaker from your Hub / extender?

Hi Peter,

I have a EE Smart Hub 32B about 3m away from the speaker (AudioPro C5A). I have an extender connected with Ethernet backbone on the next floor up, but the speaker is showing as connected to the hub with excellent signal.
The speaker is 2.4Ghz only, but supports 802.11 b/g/n. It is AirPlay 1. I’m streaming from an iPhone 16 Pro, about 1m from the speaker.
I’ve just switched from a BT Home Hub 2, which had no issues.
Hope that helps!

Martin
