Re number landline.

EE are saying they can't do a re number on my landline as it's a different exchange. Just moved over from BT. Had my number for over 20 years. New number not working anyway. Waiting for cancellation to go through before any next step. Exchange is in Wales and I am in Shropshire right on the border.

@MG_3  have you just changed to full fibre?

What service did you have with BT, and what with EE?

Hi yes had full fibre 500 then they said they needed to drop down to lower speed to do the re number but don't know why . Bt was for broadband and landline and 37.99 a month . It was copper connection and digital landline.

@MG_3  the copper connection would have come from your nearest exchange, but it is likley that the full fibre comes from a bigger exchange, as you say earlier in Shropshire and any number would need to come from that exchange.

The only way around it would be to go to an independant VOIP supplier and ask them to take over your number - if it was stiil active within the last 30 days.

Hi,

It was still active within 30 days but I have a new number which was allocated to me before the re number which isn't working anyway

Have you plugged your phone in the router ?

No it's a digital phone and the person I spoke to today said there's a fault from when they tried to re number
