Questions prior to signing up - Broadband

Hi,

I am thinking of moving from VM to EE for both Broadband & TV and have some questions I cant seem to find answers for;

1. Can I still use a 3rd party router to connect to ONT, as I already have a network setup in house?

2. If so, does EE TV work with 3rd party routers, assuming multicast settings are correct?

3. Can the Hybrid Connect device be used with a 3rd party router?

4. I have seen different details on annual price rises - Retail index+3.9% vs set £3+£2 - which is correct?

Thanks inbox advance for any help

Mark

  1. Yes, but you can't have Digital Landline with it. In Using & Configuring a Third Party Router you'll find everything you need to set up your router incl. the BB PPPoE creds. which are now the same as BT's.
  2. Not sure but think not.
  3. Not sure but think not.
  4. The latter. Ofcom has banned the RPI + %age rises.

2. I've had it working with some third party routers in the past but YMMV and it's in no way guaranteed. I'd say there are more devices out there that don't work, versus those that do. Even if you do find one that works, you might struggle to hold somebody to account if it breaks for whatever reason.

3. There may be ways for you to 'hack' around it, but most of those hacks are likely to require that you still have the EE hub on your network. Try a search of the BT Community forums.
