Parent Controls Don't Work

Can anyone help? I've been trying to prohibit my son's Pc from accessing the internet (a wireless connection) between certain hours to try and ensure he goes to bed at a reasonable hour. I can't get the app to connect at all, so went into the router settings to do it that way.

I selected his device, set the hours I wanted to deny him access and saved the charges but nothing seems to happen. He can still connect to the internet.

For what it's worth, my modem doesn't look like any of the pictures on the EE website (I have had it for some years).

@Hrothwyn Post a picture up of your router, or see if a label on it with some details. It may not be able to support what you are trying to do.

Which EE BB plan are you on including its speed? What EE router do you have (read its label)?

i think it's just an EE Smart Hub. The details on the back aren't much more help, beyond passwords etc.

Yes, that's the EE Smart Hub. It is not controlled by any app at all.

You can schedule your child's access to the Net from Advanced > Access Control.

Show us the settings you've used there.

@Hrothwyn Will leave you in the capable hands of @XRaySpeX he has way more knowledge on what you can do with that particular model of EE Router.👍

I had been into the router's advanced settings and chosen my son's computer from the list, then wanted to restrict access to any internet connection between 9.45pm and 8am. I saved the changes in the expectations that at 9.45 he would loose the connection (and then turn the PC off). Nothing happened, the connection remains active.

Some routers don't like time ranges spanning midnight. Try splitting it into 2 rules for 21:45 to 23:59 & 00:00 to 08:00.

I will give that a try, thanks!
