PPP Errors

Over the last month or so, I have been noticing a lot of PPP errors. The symptom is that the ADSL line will remain connected, but there is no internet connection. It usually resolves itself fairly quickly without any intervention but there is clearly an issue. The router log shows LCP ProtRej code, but I don't understand what that means. I have used the same router for a while with absolutely no issues. Can anyone help please or do I need to log this somewhere?

Do they include something like "PPP: CHAP authentication failed"? Which router?

Hi XRaySpex, It's a TP-Link VR900 AC1900. The latest dropout (today) had a series of 8 messages like this: ppp0 rcvd [LCP ProtRej id=0x58 ff ff ff ff ff ff b0 be 76 1a ab 65 08 06 00 01 08 00 06 04 00 01 where the 0x58 portion incremented from 0x51, 0x52, etc. Previous occasions where internet was lost have logged an actual PPP error, which I can't remember,  but these seem to have disappeared from the log. I may have rebooted the router since then , so that would explain that.

Does it work OK with the EE supplied router? We're more likely to be familiar with any PPP events coming from that & so would EE CS who would insist you put it back before they could comment.

I never had an EE router!

How come you are on EE BB? Or aren't you?

I joined Freeserve many moons ago and probably used their modem/router. Then it became Wanadoo and I can't remember what I used then. Then Orange came along with their hideous white triangular abomination of a router, so I bought my own. I think I originally used a Netgear DGN2000 and more recently the TP-Link. When Orange was rebranded EE, I vaguely remember being asked if I wanted an EE modem/router and I said no as I was happy to use my own. So I never had an EE modem/router.

You should've taken it just in case. I would call CS & request an EE router as you are entitled.

Looks like you have your router set to force IPv6 connection. Try reverting back to IVp4.

There are very few IPv6 only sites no matter what the scaremongering you may/may not have believed.

@pip11 Router is set to IPv4  and always has been. I have changed nothing and had this router working perfectly for a long time, so I don't understand why the PPP errors suddenly started. Just now, I changed MTU setting to 1492 from 1480. Is this going to make a difference? Some ISP's suggest 1500 for this
