No incoming calls on my landline

I recently converted to EE BT and since then my landline will not take incoming calls. I do not realize this until a friend called to see me to find out if I was OK because I had rang me 5 times and my landline just cut off. I am 80 years old. I have telephone BT and spoke to someone who tried all kinds of things and decided my router was faulty. I was sent another but this did not work either. I have had a computer expert check that I have plugged it correctly. I have sent two complaints to BT but found out these are only automated replies. What do I do next.
