New FTTP connection today - distance?

Sorry I don't really know how to word the title because I was a bit confused by what the engineer was telling me.

I signed up for a new phone contract a couple of weeks ago and was asked about my broadband provider (Virgin) and was offered FTTP through the Openreach network and I agreed and installation was booked in for today.

The engineer has attended and fitted the boxes on the inside and outside of the property, but has had to leave to attend another job and said something about the maximum distance for a line being 65 metres, and the distance to my house was 82 metres.

He said he sent a message to his manager and while awaiting a response would nip off to attend another job quickly and would return.

Now I am worrying this is a Friday afternoon, and it seems there could never be a chance I am not going to get the service I have agreed to, changes have been made to my house, and Virgin could be about to cancel my service, leaving me without a connection for the weekend.

I would hope that they would not disconnect me until EE/Openreach have confirmed I have a working connection, is that right? And how am I likely to be compensated for any potential inconvenience this might cause?

I have just received a text message from EE saying

EE here. Openreach have arranged for an engineer survey to understand what work is needed to get you connected. You do not need to do anything and we will be in touch with an update once it is done. We have prepared some information on the next steps. You can see this here care.ee.co.uk/next_steps

When I follow the link it doesn't tell me anything, just opens a page of tother links to different places. I click Broadband, but I'm not seeing anything that relates to what I am experiencing.

@STEJENT The theory behind all off the change over is that your old supplier keeps you connected until EE get you live, the Engineer probably did not have a long enough connect cable, and a special will have to be got to connect you up, they do only carry specific cables with them, so until that arrives with an Engineer to complete then you just have to wait!
