Got new EE broadband with landline (don't know if it's EE or BT for the landline) but it's not working. I have set the broadband up which is fine, phew, glad something works! House phone isn't working, don't know what to do 😭 can anyone suggest anything?

(I also got a new mobile phone but with a different provider and I can't make calls or text on my new phone, not having much atthe minute)

Yayyyyyy, all sorted, I had a phone call from EE and as a couple of you have said, I am now on digital telephone so plugged the house phone into the back of the EE router and bingo, it works, whooo (which is more than I can say about my mobile phone which is still not working, NOT impressed, yes it has a new sim card in, yes it's the right way round. Once my old number was migrated over and I was told it had been done, my mobile worked for a few hours, then stopped and hasn't worked since)

1 problem solved, 1 to go then I will be happy again!

Thank you so very much for your replies, really does mean a lot to me 😀

All physical infrastructure coming into your house is operated by Openreach, which is owned by BT who also own EE. Openreach are deprecating the PSTN network in 2025, so all landline phones will become obsolete and will no longer work, most new packages use a technology called VOIP, so use the internet service to provide telephony.

Some routers support this function, and i believe the ones provided by EE have a telephone jack on the back of the router. Try connecting your Home Phone to the router, instead of the PSTN wall Jack. Theres sometimes a little adaptor that comes with the router supplied, but sometimes the phone will connect straight to the router.

In regards to your Mobile, you may need to wait for the new service to provision, and you may need to restart the phone etc... If you have put the new sim into your phone, does it show any service?

I've restarted the mobile more times than I care to think in the last 24 hours.

On Wednesday I received a text from my new provider saying my number had been ported over and I could now use it, I was proper chuffed as it worked, I could ring and text with no problems, then about 6.30pm it stopped working and hasn't worked since. I'm doing well, no house phone, no mobile phone or texts and I'm disabled, not good

I understand that land lines are being disconnected but that's so wrong, not everyone's has Internet, a lot of elderly people might have a landline and not a mobile phone. I did say this to the person who convinced me to upgrade my broadband, I said I would as long as I still had my landline, if my 2 kids and husband can't get hold of me on my mobile then they ring the landline, it's important for me to keep it.

Currently no landline or mobile or texts, once it's sorted I know I will get loads of texts 😂

I needed to reinstall my banking app, they want me to verify its me by either texting or ringing my mobile, currently can't do either 😭

Hi @Tillymint4175 and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry your landline isn't working. It's possible you've been switched over to digital voice but I can check what's happening for you. I'll need a few details so check your inbox for my message and drop me over a reply.

Cheers

David

Hi @Tillymint4175,

Are you only having problems with your mobile in one location or everywhere?

James

If I try to ring out it says 'not registered on network' if I try and send a text, it says 'no connection' I shouldn't be mentioning my new mobile as its not with EE lol but can't find a chat like this on their help pages!

Ah OK, @Tillymint4175

Most network providers will have a contact us page on their website to help you get in touch.

I hope you get it sorted soon. 🙂
