Moving from BT to EE

Hi

Last night I renewed my broadband contract with BT and agreed to switch to EE in the process. I've not had any email confirmation and it's supposed to 'go live' tomorrow.

This afternoon I used BT's online chat to ask and they said I won't get any email confirmation until it goes live tomorrow. Is this normal and correct?

Strange thing is I got an email last night saying my EE email address had been changed, but it hasn't when I logged in to check (I have an EE account as I have my mobile with EE). I assume this email is because they were setting up the new broadband account?

Also will anything happen to my broadband connection when it switches from BT to EE tomorrow? Will it drop out (even briefly)?

Thanks.

Hey there @h2005.

We don't have account access to directly check orders via these forums, but there's definitely a possibility that your order confirmation details were sent to the incorrect one you posted.

I'd recommend giving our broadband team a call, and they'll be able to check the order details and answer any questions you have on what's happening.

What type of BB plans are you switching between, incl. their speeds?

I was on BT Fibre Halo 3 (FTTC) and am moving to EE Fibre Essentials 50. The speed should remain at what my line can handle, i.e. around 45Mb download speed.

EDIT: Originally put FTTP by mistake.

At that speed that can't be FTTP with BT.

Looks like you're just switching like-for-like 50 Meg FTTC VDSL plans. You should see no or little downtime & EE will email you when it's done.

Sorry, my mistake, I meant FTTC!

Thanks. I assume my Direct Debit to BT will automatically cease.

They might just transfer it to EE.

Hi @h2005

you will get a final bill for your BT account which is normally a credit if you havent got any additional charges and then a new bill for your EE account they will set up a new direct debit for your EE account.

Thanks for the info. I've now got EE broadband showing up in my EE app, but when I click on billing info it says it can't be shown at the moment. However I had a text this morning saying my EE broadband was ready and it's working fine with no breaks in service.

Does it take long for the final BT bill and new EE bill to be issued? I assume it'll then show correctly in the EE app.

Thanks.
