Just Ordered New Wi-Fi 7 Package - Updates & Review To Follow

Morning Everyone,

After waiting for any news, I saw that the new WiFi 7 is being advertised and the Smart Home Pro is available.

So I’ve signed up for the 1.6Gb package which includes the WiFi 7 Router.

I will update this post once I receive everything and I’ll do a full review.

I get the new iPhone 16 Pro Max this Friday on launch which is WiFi 7 so I’ll be able to test out the new WiFi capabilities and then I’ll do a wired test to my gaming PC.

Estimated Date for equipment = 28 September 2024

Date for Installation - 2nd October 2024 - 8am to 1pm.

Although I don’t need an engineer as I have everything in place from my previous internet so will see if I can just plug in myself 😄

Nice, I'm glad people are starting to receive them, the engineer will probably need to replace your ONT as the standard one only supports 1Gbps and the updated ones support up to 2.5Gbps

I mean their terms and conditions do not state this so they are breaking their own terms - here. https://ee.co.uk/content/dam/help/terms-and-conditions/broadband/smart-wifi-terms-and-conditions/ee-...

so whoever you spoke to just said whatever they felt it seems

I have spoken to several people at EE and they pretty much all say the same thing I can't get it, the person I spoke to was more helpful than the others I spoke with and was on the phone with them for over an hour whilst they checked and it seems this is fact even though there terms states otherwise, I simply don't have any option on my account to add the new router and they can't even do it manually, so if there no option it can't be done and there will be loads if people in this position.

@iammbuk I’m in exactly the same position. Have spoken to multiple guides and they just say it isn’t appearing as an add on they can put on my account.

@Colesey @iammbuk It was an addon option available on the 18th when i upgraded from fttc to fttp, and although i did not want it as a asus user, that's not to say it would have been pulled later though.

Hi @Colesey you may want to check your addons on your broadband plan now, I've just checked and Wifi 7 Hub Pro is now showing as an available add-on, so everything EE has said has been rubbish and lies, I've added it and says Thursday delivery lets hope it goes through and arrives, just thought I'd share it with everything that's had issues, I did it from Shop and Broadband on EE website

I have just checked the new router is not available as an add on (I have Broadband 900mbps and TV) only the extender at £10pcm instead of £7 😡

The Smart Hub Pro is sold as a hub/extender pair; I don't think there's an option to take just the hub. Is the £10pcm for 'Pro' devices, or 'Plus' devices?

@CarbonStar Just a heads up. You may not see the full WiFi 7 potential with your Iphone 16 pro Max as Apple have capped it to using 160hz channel width and not 320hz that WiFi 7 can utilize. Unsure of the real world speed penalty of that but pretty poor on Apples part

It's the difference between a theoretical link rate of 2882mbps versus 5764mbps.

For anybody interested, it's the same situation with the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 Pro; neither support 320MHz at the time of writing and no word if they ever will.
