Morning Everyone,

After waiting for any news, I saw that the new WiFi 7 is being advertised and the Smart Home Pro is available.

So I’ve signed up for the 1.6Gb package which includes the WiFi 7 Router.

I will update this post once I receive everything and I’ll do a full review.

I get the new iPhone 16 Pro Max this Friday on launch which is WiFi 7 so I’ll be able to test out the new WiFi capabilities and then I’ll do a wired test to my gaming PC.

Estimated Date for equipment = 28 September 2024

Date for Installation - 2nd October 2024 - 8am to 1pm.

Although I don’t need an engineer as I have everything in place from my previous internet so will see if I can just plug in myself 😄

The experience with EE has been poor compared with BT so far. Although BT had the same rules around ordering, couldn’t order if there was an open order on the account but they always closed quickly. With EE this is the 2nd/3rd time where an order is stuck on open when it’s obvious it should be complete.

Well I tried to order the new hub as I am on the 1.6gbps and their terms state that existing customers get it, however they have no way ordering it for existing members on the 1.6gbos

@Colesey I would agree, they just make it difficult for existing customers, they are meant to be calling me back today at 1pm but not heard anything from them yet

@Woggy it's just really bad obviously they have no process in place for existing customers to upgrade and only interested new , it's probably a commission thing, but should be as simple as adding it on in MYEE and then sending back the old kit and done

To be honest it was a nightmare when I first got the package no one knew anything about it, and was passed through like 6 different departments. I am supposed to get a callback today also but nothing yet

I hear you I was the same, some where helpful than others but generally when I spoke to them yesterday. none on them were aware of the new Wifi 7 hardware, they had to check with a manager - Doubt they will call us back get the feeling they don't know what to tell us

I am also on the 1.6gbps and want this new router they should just send them to us without having to ask technically.

They should yes, I can’t imagine they have so many 1.6gbps members that they couldn’t and it’s just n their terms. Did you manage to get one ordered as I haven’t heard anything

My saga continues, after the failed callback on Wednesday I called them back Thursday, was initially fobbed off but decided to go through to cancellation as I feel like I have tried every other department LOL, they said the order they raised to return the Wi-Fi plus kit was done incorrectly so they had to cancel it and then advise me to weigh 24 hours for not to close, then they'll be able to upgrade me to Wifi 7, waited for a callback on Friday they did call me back eventually and I said to them that I'm happy to pay the extra £10 a month to add wifi 7 as I'm only on 500mb, but ended up upgrading to the gigabit service as they said Wifi 7 was included (not),  I wasn't confident it had been done right so I called back later in the afternoon and it turns out I was right to call back, I was misadvised and there no mention of it on my account.

I was passed through to the connections team and speaking to someone senior who advised me that currently Wi-Fi 7 may be available on the website but yet to be fully launched and it's 2 to 3 weeks away so what they are doing is adding your name to a list and when the hardware becomes available they will notify you and send out the hardware, from what they said 1.6 customers will be done first, then everyone else. I did asked them to confirm I'm definitely on the list? I was told you should be so I don't have any faith or confidence it will be done.

To top this was told not all staff are trained yet on selling/adding on Wifi 7 yet and the process is being sorted, so I think its been kind of a soft launch that's gone horrible wrong, I got the feeling they weren't expecting as much of a demand as they are getting.
