ISP

I'm confused. I am currently signed up to Namesco and I pay them for both Starter Mail, and Authenticated SMTP Access. I'm due to renew in ten days time, so it's a bit short notice to change email address, but do I need the SMTP access? I don't have a website so I don't know what I'm paying for. Is EE an ISP? Am I paying for two ISPs? I'm confused... 😕

No, not 2 ISPs. EE is your only ISP.

Namesco is a domain & web hosting co. It is providing you with an email service with your own unique domain name providing your own, possibly many, email addy(s).

Yes, you could ditch Namesco & take up email services from the like of Gmail, Outlook.com & Yahoo. You lose your own domain with its possibly many email addys. You will be forced to change your email addy if you do this. This will have no effect on the BB service & Net access you get from EE as your ISP. Note that EE will not provide you with any email services.

You need SMTP access to be able to send emails but you will get it from any email provider as a matter of course.

@junglemonkey Yes EE is a Broadband and Mobile ISP, but it does not provide a free e-mail address service to you.

So I could ditch Namesco and use a free mail service like Gmail or something?

@junglemonkey What is the other company providing you with, just a personal business web mail address to use, if so then either GMAIL, OUTLOOK etc and sign up for a free e-mal address,,, Then you can use either off the options and a program to get smtp mail from either.
