New to EE have set up smart 7 plus. With a WiFi extender. How do I get my phone to connect to the extender for faster speeds as it appears to be stuck on the main hub all the time.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@ToddyTod Your phone will transfer to it when it gets further away from the router but closer to the extender. You can’t control what your device connects too. Your network is a mesh network so you have to access points but it’s the same WiFi network. You should be getting roughly the speed regardless if it’s the hub or the extender.

Hi @ToddyTod
As @Chris_B, your phone will connect to whichever device on the network it is closer to or your phone detects a stronger signal from.
That said, it's best to make sure your WIFI extender is located in the right place- your EE Wi-Fi extender should be roughly halfway between your Smart Hub and the area with weak coverage, ensuring it is in an open, elevated, and well-ventilated location. A solid aqua or blue light indicates a good position, while orange suggests it is too far from the hub.
You can find more information to help set the WIFI extender in the optimal position at Getting started with your WiFi Extender

Thanks Chris_B everything is working great. With my last system I had to switch manually each time. I got a bit hasty, works as you say, think it needed to settle for a while. Thanks for your help.
