Full Fibre Upgrade

I have a two years contract for Full Works Fibre 67 that expires in October 2026. As part of the contract I am entitled to a "free" upgrade to full fibre when it becomes available in my area which it now is. I enquired about activating the "free"upgrade but was informed that this would require commitment to a new 2 year contract. How can this be so when I am already paying for full fibre?

If this is the case I will certainly not be renewing my existing contract.
